There are lots of different ways to become an engineer such as through an apprenticeship or by further study at University all which require different qualifications. To become an engineer I studied Maths, Physics, Geography and Computing at A Level and then went to Manchester University to study engineering. To get into University I had to achieve an A and 2 Bs in my A Levels.

I took a slightly alternative route into engineering as I did not come to it until a lot later in life. As I had a lot of ‘life experience’ (I never did figure out if this was just a polite way of saying that I was old :-)) I missed the A level stage and went straight on to do a Foundation Degree, which then gave me access to a Masters Degree.

It was a bit of a short cut and I am still finding holes in my theoretical knowledge, but I think you’ll find a path that works for you when you’re ready.
