      Hi Dylan,

      Thanks for the question, it was good to chat to you the other day. Nuclear science is very interesting and there are a lot of jobs in the sector at the moment as we are going to start building 4 new nuclear power stations in the UK!

      A submarine can go on forever, so long as the reactor is there to power it so it doesn’t really have a range that it can go from it’s home base. So long as the fuel is there to power it, it technically doesn’t have to surface ever! This wouldn’t be very good for the submariners on-board though and eventually they would run out of food, so they tend to go to sea for about 3 months before then returning to re-supply.
