      Hello,

There are currently 3 different classes of submarines in service:
      – Trafalgar Class
      – Vanguard Class
      – Astute Class
and also one new class of submarine called ‘Successor’ which is currently in the design stage.

My first project was working on the land based test reactor called the Shore Test Facility in Dounrey in Scotland. This is where they run tests on the nuclear reactors before they are put into submarines so we can understand how they will behave and use this information to put into our computer models.

Following on from this I went to work on the Vanguard Class submarine, where my job was helping to extend the design lifetime of the reactor for another 5 years and finally onto my current job which is the design of the successor class.

So I’ve worked on 2 different submarine classes and on the shore based test facility.
