I am currently working on the design of the next class of submarine called Successor, which will eventually replace the Vanguard Class submarines in 2028. You can read about the project here: https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/successor-class-submarine-guide/
My role is specifically looking at the new design of nuclear reactor that will go into the submarine, to ensure that it will be safe to operate and not harm any of the submariners. This involves checking a lot of other people’s work to make sure all the calculations are right and understanding what could go wrong with the design so we can stop it happening in the first place.

I usually work on 3-4 projects that are related to different parts of the jet engine that can get extremely hot, for example, the compressor, the combustor, or the turbine (all of which need different amounts of cooling).
At the moment, I’m working on 1 project that’s related to compressor cooling and 2 projects related to turbine cooling.
You can read more about how important cooling is to a jet engine on my profile 🙂
